As a new user, there are some simple steps you’ll want to take to best configure DemandJump to your business.
DemandJump captures data around the critical topics, competitors, and keywords based on the inputs you enter into your account. Refer to this article as a go-to guide for account set-up.
Keywords & Competitors: Home Page
Once you receive access to your DemandJump account and login to the platform you will arrive at the home page. Within the “Home” page you will be able to set competitors and keywords that are most important to your business.
Competitors are a critical aspect of the DemandJump platform. Data from the competitors you enter will populate across the entire platform specifically informing the consumer insights. When thinking about the competitors you want to add, DemandJump best practices suggest adding a combination of both direct and indirect competitors to cast a wider net of data.
Direct Competitors: Businesses that offer the same or very similar product/service as you. They should be around the same size as your business and have similar objectives. Example- A Starbucks direct competitor would be Dunkin because of similar size and product offering.
Indirect Competitors: Businesses that compete for the same audience or in a related market as you, but are not necessarily the same size or have the same product offerings.
Example- A Starbucks indirect competitor would be McDonalds because of different product offerings that compete for similar audiences.
Competitors Navigation: Home> Set Competitors>Competitors
Located on the right column of the “Home” page, click “Set Competitors” to arrive at the “Competitors” page. Simply type or copy and paste the domain of the competitors you have chosen to set into your allotted competitor spots and hit “update competitors”. DemandJump will show a reflection of the update after 15 minutes. You have access to switch competitors as well following the same procedure.
Note that it’s not necessary to include a “www.” with a domain name; “starbucks.com” is the required format for any competitor you add. No quotes, obviously.
Insight Reports: Insight reports are the first step in figuring out the best content topics to write about. We recommend submitting popular keywords related to your business. Starting at a high level allows DemandJump to dig through the entire customer journey to provide you with the most specific content around a topic. If your starting term is too narrow you may limit the output.
Insight Reports Navigation: Home>Research & Discovery>Get Topic Insights
From the homepage move to the left column navigation drop down. Under “Home” click “Research and Discovery” then “Get topic insights” to reach the insights report page. To begin, type in phrases you want to rank page #1 for search engines. Click “Generate Insights” and allow 15-20 minutes for the report to complete.
Keywords: Keywords you prioritize can be added into the DemandJump platform to allow you to see your organic ranking for prioritized keywords compared to the keywords of your competitors and market. While we strongly recommend focusing on running Insight Reports for potential Pillar Topics, it’s easy to add any keyword list you want to track over time to the DemandJump Platform.
Example: If I am a meal-kit company that specializes in vegan meals, some keywords to include would be terms like meal delivery kit, meal delivery service, vegan meal delivery, vegan meal plan.
Keywords Navigation: Home>Create Keyword List
Located on the right column of the “Home” page click “Create Keyword List” to arrive at the “Keyword List” page. Keywords can be entered, pasted or uploaded via file into the large text box. If you plan to use multiple keyword lists and/or Blocklist use “Name Your Keyword List” to label all lists made. Any new keyword list or blocklist can be added by navigating to the “Create a new list” section and clicking the appropriate list type.Save all changes before exiting the screen. Your keyword data will be available on the platform in 1-2 business days.
