How to Use the Topic Summary Dashboard

User's Guide to Best Utilize and Interpret the Topic Summary Section of the DemandJump Platform.

DemandJump's platform allows users to identify crucial topics or keywords essential for targeting to improve overall search engine rankings. The Topic Summary Dashboard serves as the initial stepping stone for all different avenues whether it's online marketing, creating your Pillar Strategy, or improving overall search engine optimizations.

Getting Started

Before you can effectively use your Topic Summary dashboard, you need to generate an Insight Report in the DemandJump platform. To do this, simply select Get Topic Insights from the Research & Discovery menu on the left-hand side of your screen.  The Insight Report generated by the DemandJump platform gives you a list of mission-critical, short-tail keyword phrases that your audience is searching for. It’s important to note that this report is collecting search data from a specific moment in time and will need to be re-run periodically to capture the most up-to-date insights.

After your Insight Report is generated, it will be populated in the Topic Summary section of the platform. From here, DemandJump will begin to track search data related to your topic. This data includes an array of metrics like:

  • Estimated monthly searches of your keywords.
  • Where your organization ranks overall.
  • Determining which keywords should be used in your content.
  • How you rank compared to your competitors.

Here’s What Your Topic Summary Dashboard Contains:

1. Your Estimated Monthly Searches:

This shows the number of keywords ranking on each page of Google for you and your competitors. Over 60% of total search traffic for any keyword is generated from results found on Page one of Google. This chart allows you to estimate how much traffic each competitor is receiving from each topic you have generated in your Insight Reports. This information is also available from the perspective of which topics are targeted by competitor sites as well as key terms that are lacking representation. This gives the ability to see how competitors are structuring their content focus as well as highlighting keywords and questions that lack a strong thought leader.

Narrow Your Results Even More: Looking for metrics on a specific term? Use the Topic, Keyword, and Blocklist filters above the data table to select specific keywords to further customize your view within the DemandJump platform. To clarify, our blocklist filters allow you to permanently filter out unwanted keywords, like brand names for example.

2. Top Keywords Phrases and Questions

Your Topic Summary page lists 25 top keywords and questions that your target audience is currently searching for. This visual is a great way to prioritize which topic you should use as a Pillar Topic which will then inform your Pillar Strategy.  Historically, marketers will only look at the search volume of individual keywords. By viewing the search volume across an entire topic and what matters most within it, you are able to "size the prize" and know exactly where to go next.
